Prediction.
Assuming this is not happening now. Within 10 years from now we will
see people who are paralysed and very wealthy have very strange
lives.
They will not be able to move and will be permanently sat in a
chair, a non movable one. They will have tubes coming out of them to
oxygise there blood and feed them, and/or tubes in and out of there
mouths. They won't move at all, they are so rich (through heritage
or through earlier life) they have round the clock support in case
something goes wrong which should not due to the technology level of
even today.
The paralysed person will be able to see (to begin with) multiple
computer screens, in which each screen can be switch by a thought.
This is technology we have officially today.
The screen will be projected onto either their retina, or onto
screens on the wall, or onto the optic nerve or on glasses.
Depending on the patient and how much money is spent.
The patient will be able to see security cameras and therefore be
able to see around the room. Also he will be able to alert people to
a problem, control his intake of food, respirator.
One or more of his screens will be connected to multiple PCs with
backup power etc for safety. He will have the freedom of the
internet with super fast connections (remember these people will be
very rich).
In the room, a big monitor on an arm with a camera mounted on it,
which may be moveable depending on cash spent. It will look
something like below, excuse my crappy art work.

On this monitor a representation of the persons face will be
shown in 3D. a speaker will be on this screen to. The user will be
able to control the face as if it was his own. Not only that, but
the user will be able to talk through the face and sound almost
perfectly normal. Members of the family will enter the room and the
user will talk to them as if all is normal.
The user will learn how to browse the net, chat , play games, talk
to someone in the room, all at once (multitasking).
Members of this persons family and or business people will be able
to connect to the user via the internet by running a simple program
which would represent the paralyzed person as a person on the screen
moving about, and both would be able to communicate, either by
microphone and speaker or by typing.
This person will always be there to be connected to via the internet
by specific people, maybe people that pay for the service.
The user may choose to stay inside a Massively Multi Player Game (MMORPG)
permanently, and live any life he wants (I will show you the future
of these games in another section on my site soon).
This will definitely happen soon. If you was a billionaire and you
became paralyzed - like Steven Hawkins, would you set this up?
It could be setup now for what, less than 200,000$? IT probably
already is setup somewhere.
Of course further in the future, the user will
have his legs amputated, arms, body? And just be a head or a brain
in a big jar, I'm sure you've seen movies/cartoons with this sort of
thing. Then this person may become mobile in a robotic body.
